Reconstruction Works Begin at the School in Dvorovi

Mayor Ljubiša Petrović visited today the Primary School ‘Dvorovi’ in Dvorovi to ensure that the reconstruction works on this facility are proceeding according to plan.
Earlier, in July of this year, the City Administration and the Swiss Caritas in Bosnia and Herzegovina reached an agreement to continue cooperation on the renovation of school buildings in the territory of the City of Bijeljina over the next three years.
Commenting on the start of the works, Mayor Ljubiša Petrović stated that the project specifically includes the installation of a thermal insulation façade, replacement of sheet metal and part of the joinery, installation of ceilings below the roof, and the installation of a water-to-water heat pump system, all aimed at increasing energy efficiency.
“The value of this project amounts to 200,000 convertible marks, with the City of Bijeljina and Caritas each contributing 100,000 BAM,” explained the Mayor. He added that the school building in this Semberija village has long deserved reconstruction and the attention of the competent authorities, namely the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska, but the said ministry has remained silent for five years regarding the inquiries sent by the City Administration of Bijeljina.
“For the fifth consecutive year, we have been calling on the Ministry to take part in the renovation of school buildings in the territory of Semberija, but there has been no response. Yesterday we sent a letter to the newly appointed Minister of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska, inviting him to visit Bijeljina and the school facilities in order to see for himself the need for reconstruction. However, while we wait for a response, in cooperation with Caritas we continue renovating schools throughout Semberija. Thanks to this cooperation, the facilities of Primary Schools ‘Petar Kočić’ in Brodac, ‘Sveti Sava’ in Batković, and ‘Ćirilo i Metodije’ in Glavičice have already been renovated,” emphasised Petrović.
As for the selection of facilities to be renovated, it depends on the criteria established by Caritas in cooperation with the City Administration as its partner.
Primarily, factors such as the size and development potential of the school building, the number of pupils, energy consumption, and environmental indicators – including carbon dioxide and other harmful gas emissions from the current heating system – are taken into account.
