As part of the implementation of the project "Strengthening the role of local communities in BiH", Mayor of Bijeljina Mićo Mićić in the Local Community "Vuk Karadžić" handed over a newly established Community hub in the local community building and renovated premises of of the local soccer club "Sloga United".- Two small projects were officially completed within the wider project "Strengthening the role of local communities in BiH". Within the framework of this project, the City of Bijeljina has nominated six local communities - "Vuk Karadžić", Ljeskovac, Ledinci, Janja, Suvo Polje and Crnjelovo Donje and all six proposals have been accepted. For the City Administration, this project is of great importance because it assists greatly in the financing and improvement of the work of local communities, which is an important part of the functioning of the City as a whole, but also of local democracy, since the projects were prioritized by citizens during public forums in their local communities – was stated by Mayor Mićić on this occasion.The total value of investments in the local community "Vuk Karadžić" is around 38,000 BAM (excluding VAT). Construction works, furniture and IT equipment for the Community hub cost around 15,500  BAM (excluding VAT), and computer equipment around 4,500 BAM. Works on repairing and arranging locker room of the local football club amounted around 22,000 BAM. All projects are supported by the City budget in the amount of 30%.- The LC Council has decided that the Community hub can be used by all citizens for free. For the coming period, we planned various activities such as foreign language courses, sections and workshops for all generations – was announced by the President of the LC Council "Vuk Karadzic", Miroslav Bajić.The project "Strengthening the role of local communities in BiH" is funded by the governments of Sweden and Switzerland, and implemented by UNDP. At the beginning, 13 municipalities and cities were included in the project, including Bijeljina, and this number expanded over time to 20 local self-governments with a total of  120 local communities.
