URBAN MOBILITY WEEK KICKS OFF

With a press conference presenting the program for this year’s Urban Mobility Week, another event dedicated to promoting environmentally sustainable and healthy ways of movement has officially begun. This year’s theme of Urban Mobility Week is ‘Shared Public Space’.

“The City of Bijeljina strives to create and develop as many public spaces as possible, accessible to citizens for leisure and recreation, but also for walking and cycling. As in previous years, we have planned workshops at schools, outdoor fitness, inclusive activities for children with and without developmental challenges, a rollerblading event, a promotional bike ride, and the opening of Vuka Karadžića Street for pedestrians, as well as a citizen survey,” stated Ankica Todorović, Head of the City Section for Local Economic Development and European Integration.

Radoslav Ostojić, advisor to the mayor of Bijeljina, reminded that Urban Mobility Week is held in several European countries and thanked the partners and sponsors of this event.

“Semberija is flat and suitable for cycling, so the design and construction of cycling paths, along with the introduction of public city transport, is one of the main strategic directions in traffic development that the City of Bijeljina will implement in the development of the urban environment,” Ostojić emphasized.
