Combination of science and practice for economic recovery

The Faculty of Business Economics in Bijeljina hosted a scientific meeting “Ekonbiz 2021” with a topic of “Economy and Covid 19”.

In addition to the Faculty of Business Economics of the University of East Sarajevo, which hosted the meeting, the following institutions participated: Faculty of Economics of the University of Niš, Faculty of Economics in Subotica of the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Economics of the University of Priština with a temporary seat in Kosovska Mitrovica, Chamber of Commerce of Republika Srpsla – Regional Chamber of Commerce in Bijeljina, and European Network of Entrepreneurship of Republika Srpska. Bijeljina Mayor Ljubiša Petrović and the President of the Assembly of the City of Bijeljina Aleksandar Đurđević also attended the meeting.
- This is the ninth international scientific meeting we are organising, and we are very satisfied because this year we have 44 registered papers, by 84 authors and co-authors. Together with 20 entrepreneurs participating within the section called “business meetings”, the “Ekonbiz 2021” has over 100 participants – pointed out doc Vesna Petrović, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Business Economics.

Due to the epidemiology situation, a great number of participants decided to get involved in this year’s “Ekonbiz” over the Internet or by submitting the presentations of their papers.
- Scientific meetings like this one represent a great contribution to the economic recovery, because it has been shown in much more developed countries that the combination of science and practice is the best recipe for development. Therefore, I am grateful to the organisers of today’s meeting – pointed out Bijeljina Mayor Ljubiša Petrović.

In addition to the participants from the region, authors from Russia, Austria and the United States of America also presented their papers at this year’s “Ekonbiz”.
- I expect to hear useful ideas about better ways to harmonise the education system with the needs of the labour market, and ways to harmonise our market with the legislation of the European Union through successful attraction of foreign investments – said the President of the Assembly of the City of Bijeljina Aleksandar Đurđević.
