Repair of residential buildings damaged in floods continues



The Mayor of the City of Bijeljina Mićo Mićić handed over today contracts for the rehabilitation of 12 housing units in Brodac, Balatun and Pučile, as part of a project for the repair of 125 flooded facilities damaged during floods in 2014 in the area of the City of Bijeljina.
Activities on the reconstruction of these houses are part of the Program for flood recovery implemented by the City Administration of Bijeljina and the United Nations Development Program in B&H (UNDP B&H), and donors are the European Union and the Government of the Republic of  Srpska.


Construction works in  course of rehabilitation include remediation of damage caused by floods: replacement of carpentry, flooring, painting and work on electrical installations.
The total value of reparation for these 12 buildings is 55,000 BAM.
- Hundreds of people have applied for their housing rehabilitation facilities, and based on the criteria of the Commission for the selection of beneficiaries, made by representatives of the UNDP B&H and the City Administration of Bijeljina, 125 facilities were selected. Unfortunately, the consequences of the flood are still visible and we are doing everything in our power to help our citizens - said Mićić.
A total of 900,000 BAM will be spent on rehabilitation of 125 housing units, these funds are fully provided by the European Union and the Government of the Republic of  Srpska. With this program, the City of Bijeljina plans to build 44 new houses in households that have been destroyed during floods in 2014, and 16 new houses has already been completed.
Total value for construction of these 44 houses is estimated to be about  1.7 million BAM, and the City Administration of Bijeljina is participating with 220.000 BAM, and the remaining amount of funds was provided by the implementer of the UNDP B&H through its donors, primarily the European Union.
 In addition to 220,000 BAM, the City of Bijeljina also provides all permits for communal infrastructure - connection to the electricity distribution and water supply, for which an additional 200,000 BAM is planned.
